DJ Taucher
Frankfurt trance pioneer, remixer and eccentric storyteller behind the decks
DJ Taucher, born Ralph-Armand Beck, is one of the best-known figures of Germany's early trance movement. He has been behind the decks since 1992 and quickly became a fixture of the Frankfurt club scene. His artist name grew out of his unusual early performances in full diving gear – an image that made him instantly recognisable.
Even before his DJ career, Taucher organised his own parties with elaborate decoration, video projections and unconventional concepts. He later became known for theatrical appearances, changing costumes and a performance style that went far beyond simply playing records.
Together with producer Torsten Stenzel he released numerous productions and remixes throughout the 1990s. Tracks such as “Atlantis”, “Infinity”, “Fantasy”, “Bizarre” and “Child of the Universe” became part of his catalogue, while his remix work reached artists and projects including Faithless, Robert Miles, Culture Beat, Scooter and Cherrymoon Trax.
Taucher's sound cannot be reduced to classic trance. Melodic and progressive elements meet Deep House, Techno, Ambient and more experimental electronic textures. Under the title “Adult Music” he has long presented electronic music that deliberately avoids short-lived trends and formulaic mainstream trance. His sets are allowed to unfold, surprise and tell a story over many hours.
More than three decades into his career, DJ Taucher remains active through live appearances, Twitch, SoundCloud and long-form DJ sets. His shared history with Talla 2XLC reaches back to the 1990s and includes releases such as “Together” and “Nightshift”.
At GM Warehouse 157, this history enters a room where industrial architecture, light, sound and close contact with the audience provide a fitting setting for Taucher's musical journeys.
